Went back-and-forth about posting this video, then decided it was just too cute to pass up.
(Disclaimer: I don't necessarily condone letting a 3-year-old watch Star Wars. But it's still a cute video.)

That is really cute.
This past week my five-year-old nephew was going to go to a Star Wars party, where everyone was going to dress up and do Star Wars skits and stuff.
So his mom asked him if he wanted her to rent the movie because he had never seen it. He said "I don't need to see the movie I already know all about Star Wars."
She asked him what Star Wars was about and he said, "It's the good guys fighting against the bad guys and the good guys win."
So she figured he basically had Star Wars down and she didn't need to rent it.
My kids have never seen Star Wars, but they have seen the Gumby version so they think they know all about it too.
Speaking about the evil empire, I have an open question for you Republicans out there.
Just curious, what do you guys think about John McCain continuing the Republican tradition of racist dirty tricks ie. referring to Obama as "Barack Hussein Obam"a to try to make it seem that he is Muslim, when he is not.
Is that OK?
Say McCain were German for example, would it be OK to greet him with a Nazi salute and try to paint him as a goose-stepping Neo-Nazi with absolutely no proof?
Or depict him as a drunken, Pro-IRA terrorist because he happens to have Irish roots? Would that be OK?
Where do we draw the line? Is it OK to deal the race card from the bottom of the deck?
Is this honorable?
Would it be OK to imply that Hillary was a Lesbian?
How long will Republicans continue to scapegoat people and exploit racism to stay in power?
-----------
Some of the rumors and allegations about Obama are clearly not true, yet still spread, often anonymously:
• A debunked chain e-mail circulating widely on the Internet suggests he is hiding his Islamic roots. It says he was sworn into the Senate on the Quran and turns his back on the flag during the Pledge of Allegiance.
He took his Senate oath with his hand on a family Bible, and he says, "Whenever I'm in the United States Senate, I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America." In fact, no candidate could survive if he publicly spurned the pledge.
• Another false report says he attended a Muslim madrassa school as a child in Jakarta. Obama was born in Hawaii and moved to Indonesia when he was 6 to live with his mother and stepfather. He returned to Hawaii when he was 10 to live with his maternal grandparents. Interviews last year by The Associated Press at the elementary school in Jakarta found that it is a public and secular institution and has been open to students of all faiths since before Obama attended in the late 1960s. Said vice principal Akmad Solichin: "Yes, most of our students are Muslim, but there are Christians as well. Everyone's welcome here."
• Obama also has faced questions about his pastor at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, where he has been a member for 20 years. Trinity calls itself "Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian." But it accepts non-black congregants. The United Church of Christ's president and general minister, the Rev. John H. Thomas, was quoted in a church publication as pointing out that the Rev. Jane Fisler-Hoffman, Illinois Conference Minister, who is white, "has been a member of the congregation for years."
• Obama has been asked about Farrakhan's words of praise and Farrakhan's receipt of an award from "Trumpet Newsmagazine," a Trinity church publication last month. Obama told Jewish leaders Sunday: "An award was given to Farrakhan for his work on behalf of ex-offenders completely unrelated to his controversial statements. And I believe that was a mistake and showed a lack of sensitivity to the Jewish community and I said so."
"don't talk back to Darth Vader, he'll getcha"
@Israel
I don't think anybody here is a Republican and I'm not at all happy that McCain is likely to get nominated. For a whole host of reasons I would love to see Ron Paul be President. (I don't want to get into a huge debate over this).
In McCain's defense (and, it kills me to do this because I DO NOT LIKE MCCAIN'S POLITICS), he did not bring up the "Barack Hussein Obama" bit - it was some windbag talk show host from Cincinnati. In fact McCain distanced himself from the comment immediately afterwards. To imply otherwise as you did is to resort to "dirty Republican" tactics.
Regardless, if Barack Hussein Obama or any of his apologists are ashamed of his middle name, maybe a little introspection on bigotry may be in order. Ya know, the whole thing about throwing a stone into a pack of dogs?
The article I read yesterday said that McCain repeatedly referred to Obama by his middle name. It didn't say he "distanced himself" from those comments.
This is the same McCain who refers to Vietnamese people as "Gooks."
The truth is that just like the Nazi Party the Republicans scapegoat ethnic minorities and gays and they have for years. It is their number one tool -- a "weapon of mass deception" -- so to speak.
I had a Republican family member say to me last week that he wasn't going to vote for Obama because Obama was Muslim and voting for a Muslim was "scary." This despite the fact that Obama grew up Christian and has never been been a Muslim.
Where did he get the idea that Obama was a Muslim? From racist Republican lie-mongers.
Even if McCain isn't racist and he is just benefiting from dealing the race card and having racist supporters, he is no better than someone who claims to be an abolitionist yet invests in the slave trade. "Hey, we at the Slave-Ships-R-US Corporation don't believe in slavery, but we are proud to make the best Slave Ships in the country."
There is a reason that the KKK and the Neo-nazi's vote Republican. because they feel that the Republican party best represents their interests. They are absolutely right.
--------
If none of you guys are Republican, then why do you guys continue to support and vote for Republican "windbags" and to watch their propaganda-spouting talk show hosts?
And why are you no longer Republican when as early as the last election you same non-Republicans were thanking God for sending George W. Bush to lead us?
How "convenient" that after Bush leads our country down the toilet you guys are now disavowing your Republican ties.
I'm sure that's what people in post-WWII Germany said about the Nazis. "What's a Nazi? There aren't any Nazi's around here. I've never been a Nazi and I've never known any Nazis. Hitler? Who was that?"
Yet the Nazi rallies were full of supporters when Hitler was in power.
I'm not saying you guys are racist or Nazi, I'm just saying that in the past you have supported a party whose bread-and-butter has been and continues to be the exploitation of racism.
And this kind of thing won't stop until white people from Ohio (and elsewhere) start demanding that it stop instead of making excuses and apologies for it.
well actually it is nothing like that obama's middle name IS Hussein so really how would that be like calling hillery a lesbian unless your announcing something that no one else know and she really is then i fail and as for mccain being a nazi he is off on his polotics but nazi may be a bit extreme and yet baracks middle name is still hussein and having heard bill cunningham many times he always addresses people by their full names it shouldn't even be a big deal.
and i being a racial biggot by calling your Israel Jeru Ramirez at least i believe that i have heard that is your middle name
i hope you dont consider me to be rude if i called you that and if it makes you feel any better you can call me Justin Andrew Holsapple
and i beleive that the clinton campaign is the one that first made any type of issue out of obama's middle name
one other question you keep bashing president Bush please tell me what horrible thing that he did to make your life miserable other then beating the guy you voted for?
What has President Bush Done:
Here's a few things
1) Lied about Weapons of Mass Destruction to get us into an absolutely unnecessary war with Iraq. Ignored credible intelligence reports which discredited the his reasons for invading Iraq in the first place. Lied about Iraq having ties to 911.
2) Destabilized the region for absolutely no good reason, making Iran a far greater threat by getting rid of an Iraqi regime
that kept them in check for years.
3) Thousands killed and unprecedented trillion dollar deficits in pursuit of his revenge fantasy against Saddam Hussein and a pipe dream of making Iraq a nation of freedom-loving democratic people who love us. (They hate us by the way and they always will.)
4) Made the U.S. a worldwide laughing stock with his arrogant ignorance.
5) Took us from an economy that was the best in history to one of the worst. We went from the largest surplus to the largest deficit ever on his watch.
6) Hasn't captured Osama Bin Laden or held the Saudi regime responsible for 911 a crime that had nothing to do with Iraq. Sure he toppled Saddam, but he has weakened our military for absolutely no reason fighting a misguided and unnecessary war when the resources could have been used to make us safer.
That's just a short list and if you don't know anything about what I'm talking about then you just haven't been paying attention.
He's done so many other things to ruin this country (curtailing civil liberties, etc.) that it would take me forever to list them all.
What you don't seem to get is that there is a difference between using my middle name for no reason at all or using it to inflame racist passions.
I don't have a middle-name but if my middle name was "Israel" or "Zion" and we were on a hijacked plane together and you started calling me "Israel" or "Zion" so that middle-eastern terrorists could think I was Jewish and kill me first, I would have a problem with that.
Calling me "Israel" in that situation in front of middle-eastern terrorists would not be an innocent word choice, it would be a premeditated decision to inflame racist passion and cause me harm.
They are calling Obama "Hussein" in the hopes that racists will discriminate against him because they think he's Muslim. (He isn't just like I am not Jewish just because my name is Israel.)
See the difference?
Hrrmmm. Israel argues like an ADHD-riddled pre-adolescent. Somebody comes out with good counter-points and suddenly its "let's go ride bikes" or "look at the EVIL George W".
This is pointless.
There are _plenty_ of good reasons to be freaked out by Obama other than his 'scary' middle name. Does anybody remember his idea to bomb Pakistan? I do.
...oh yea. Obama attends a church who's pastor is buddy-buddy with Nation of Islam anti-semites . Maybe he isn't racist, but he should definitely choose better friends. If his judgement is so poor as to be associated with such....well.
1. hillary said that the weapons of mass destruction were in there also actually before bush came into office.
2. actually iraq the country that america and the rest of the world is fighting right now is by far more stable than other countries in that particular region of the world. and if you dont belive me ask angelina jolie that is what she just said.
3. yea your right on that one it would probably be better that they just come here and kill us on our soil
4. so where do you get your information of world views? i have been in many different places of the world and i believe that i was accepted as an american just fine not even hated ( oh and by the way america is not the only country that is in the war in iraq
5. Just how did he take the economy so low? was it all of his tax cuts or the fact that citizens control the economy and not the president. or maybe the fact that Government should stay out of the banking industy and the Congress or the pressident shouldnt have passed any regulations making it easier for unqualified people to get loans that they cant afford i know you just want to make it bush's fault but in reality it was more than just him no one person has that much athority in this country that is by design.
6. He has weakened the military? you had better check your facts there a little mister actaully it was our former president MR CLINTON that weakened the military not the second mr bush and as far as a weak military ask any memeber of our military ( not a retired one with a polotical agenda)and i am sure you will find that it isnt as strong as it should be but still strong enough. that is why we have allies and we have good strong allies.
Excuses, excuses and more excuses for the most pathetic President in U.S. history.
Do you know how to weaken a country?
Waste Trillions in resources on an unnecessary war that accomplishes nothing.
Iraq was going to attack us on our soil? Wow! I guess you people in Ohio have intelligence sources that no one on the planet has. Congrats on being so well informed...
Iraq was too busy fighting with and keeping Iran in check to attack our soil. The guys who attacked our soil were Saudis.
Even The Beloved Conservative Author and Commentator William F. Buckley (Who started the National Review) and is widely regarded as the greatest Republican thinker ever (one of the few) said that Bush's policy in the Iraq War was a complete failure.
Anyone with half a brain knows that...
When are you gonna catch on?
By the way for you William F. Buckley fans out there, as we lionize the man and his accomplishments let us not forget what he said when he opposed civil rights legislation in the National Review, declaring, "the white community in the South is entitled to take such measures as are necessary to prevail."
Yup! He was a true Conservative alright. Let's hope he is in White Republican heaven with another guy who opposed Civil Rights legislation, championed discrimination and tried to keep Mexican-American citizens from voting in Arizona -- William Rehnquist.
And let's hope that in white Republican heaven there are no Blacks and no Mexicans around to make guys like Buckley and Rehnquist uncomfortable. Let's hope there are only nice god-fearing Christian white people as far as the eye can see.
Hey PMB, if you had a mind that could process information and formulate coherent thoughts maybe you wouldn't be making fun of people with attention deficit disorders on John's blog.
I'm just sayin'...
----------
And by the way, America's standing in the world is the lowest it has ever been and George Bush is almost universally reviled. You guys might know that if you ever got out of Lima Bean Ohio.
I know this because as part of my work I regularly interact with people from all over the world and I ask them what folks think of George Bush and the U.S. in their neck of the woods. (The words I hear most often are stupid and arrogant.)
Look at what happened to the last guy that followed little Georgie Bush's lead British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
His own people called him "Bush's poodle" and ran him out on a rail.
--------
To echo our great leader:
"Is our children lernin'?"
Apparently not the ones in Ohio...
-------
Woo hoo!!
John, I single-handledly rescued your blog from terminal boredom.
(You can thank me later.)
In the spirit of bring us all together in the hatred of Hillary Clinton I bring you the following blog from my new Myspace page which shows you that I don't pull any punches when it comes to Democrats either.
I sent out a bunch of Friend Requests to people in Ohio, but for some reason nobody wants to be my friend. ):
Here goes, it's called "Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures" and it contains my brilliant plan for helping Hillary win...
---------
I for one am starting to feel sorry for Hillary. Why? Because she can't just give up, she has to keep trying, even though she doesn't have any bullets left in her arsenal.
Speaking as an ugly dude with no charisma, let me explain something to you beautiful people out there. It isn't easy being unlikable. People like Hillary (and people like me) have to work for all the Kudos we get. We can't just smile and have people like us, trust us, wanna be around us, we have to be brilliant, lucky, entertaining, we have to write books like Al Gore, we have to have really good speech writers, makeup artists, hairdressers, etc., many more balloons, awesome ads and tons of money especially in the TV age. It's freakin' exhausting!! So of course after a long hard fought campaign against a naturally charismatic political thoroughbred like Obama or Bill Clinton or Henry Cisneros when we're coming down the homestretch eating dirt we start unraveling a little.
People look at the Beautiful People and they automatically assume that they are nicer, cooler, smarter and better than us just because they are good looking and personable. No matter what we do, people just aren't gonna like us that much. NO MATTER WHAT.
You think Nixon would stand a chance getting elected today? George Washington with his wooden teeth? Abraham Lincoln? "Look at that ugly mole on his face, ugh!!! No way am I gonna look at that on TV for the next four years!!"
And another thing lemme explain about poor about Hillary being emotional.
If she is unemotional she's a robot. If she shows emotion she's a crybaby. If she froths at the mouth she's hysterical. If she doesn't, she's too wimpy and not enough of a fighter. What the heck is she supposed to do?
I HAVE THE ANSWER:
All she can do is inspire sympathy and go full bore after the ugly vote.
Admit she's unlikeable. Do a naked photo spread without makeup and embrace her inner ugly. Show us the bags under her eyes and the cellulite on her backside.
Break down crying. Go on Doctor Phil and talk about how it felt to be on TV keeping a stiff upper lip after her husband got caught sharing his cigar with a chubby intern in a thong.
Cry some more.
Talk about how hard it was having that horrible hair in the sixties and having to wear those ugly coke-bottle glasses. Tell us about how much it hurt when Jennifer Flowers laughed at her and when her husband cheated on her with Paula Jones. Show us a picture of what Paula Jones looked like before her nose and boob job. BLAM!
Cry some more.
You want humanity? Go on Oprah with Bill and just completely lose it. Rip into Bill in public, throw a shoe at his head, demand a divorce.
Then ask for the vote of everyone in the country who has ever been wronged by either a cheating man and /or beautiful person.
Hillary, take it from me, girl this is your only chance --if you unite the uglies, it's on to victory!! There are way more of us than there are of them, so it's a matter of simple mathematics.
I'll even give you a couple free slogans
1) "Vote For Hella(ugly)rry"
2) "Vote For Over the Hill-ary!!
If no one here is Republican (anymore) then what do I call my political opponents?
Lessee...
John, Justin, Jeshanah???
Can I just call you all card-carrying members of the JJJ?
I love how John can post an innocent 3 year old's account of a science fiction classic only to have the comments section degrade into a political slug-fest. Every time.
One more thing:
The article I read yesterday said that McCain repeatedly referred to Obama by his middle name. It didn't say he "distanced himself" from those comments.
Are you sure this source was credible and not some liberal blog...or the NY Times? Do a news search for McCain and the worlds "Barack Hussein Obama". I pretty sure your source is incorrect.
Well it was breaking news from a McCain Campaign rally on the MSN Network -- so maybe he came back and denounced it later.
If he did denounce it later good for him. (Although the remark got wide publicity anyway, and no doubt rallied many of his racist supporters to the Republican cause.)
And I still have to ask why the people who are supporting him at his own rally are using racist tactics against Obama.
Remember this is also the same John McCain who used a racial slur when he told reporters on his campaign bus, "I hated the gooks. I will hate them as long as I live."
So it doesn't surprise me one bit that he is reaping the benefits of trying to tar Obama with the racist brush.
The bottom line is that the Republicans have been using racist tactics like this for fifty years. (Mexicans are just the latest
scapegoat.)
If it was just one isolated occurrence I might let it slide, but it is a pattern and practice of catering to the racist vote over and over again.
-------
By the way, I never said that Bush is "evil" I just said that he is stupid, incompetent and arrogant and his party and his administration are totally corrupt.
He's probably really nice, loyal guy to his friends (Bush claims that he still believes Raphael Palmeiro did not use steroids even after Palmeiro lied to congress and then tested positive for steroids right after. Bush even sent his Daddy to Kenneth Lay's funeral after Lay was convicted of the largest corporate fraud in history. Bush has also rewarded his friends in the oil business with almost $4 a gallon prices which have translated into the highest profits and profit margins ever in the entire history of corporate America. EVER, EVER EVER. That means the highest ever profits for any industry at any time in history.)
So bully for Bush and his friends, but too bad for the good ol' USA where even the Canadians and Europeans can now mock outr puny dollar.
I don't think Bush is evil and I'm sure he has many redeeming qualities as a human being, unfortunately is dumb as a box of rocks and thus he is spectacularly unqualified and ill-equipped to lead our great nation.
AAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!
THE MEXICANS ARE COMING!!!! THE MEXICANS ARE COMING!!!
I saw this "article" and I got a big kick out of it.
My question is, are White people really that scared of the future? Cuz we have seen the future and it is pretty brown...

Population Growth and the United States' Depleting Resources…
by BWK ~ February 14, 2008
A story in USA Today reports that "The US population will soar to 438 million by 2050." Most of the population growth will be driven by immigration and live births to immigrants. How depressing. And it ought to make you mad, so that you want to "do something" about it… like build a wall or something.
Really, why is it that the so-called "immigration debate" in the US is often tied up with terms of race and seldom tied into the discussion of depleting resources and declining infrastructure? If the immigration debate was framed in the latter terms of resource depletion and infrastructure, people would focus on the point that the nation is "full." The irrefutable fact is that the US resource base is fast-depleting and the infrastructure system is overloaded. There is no more room at this inn. It's time to hang out the equivalent of the "No Vacancy" sign for very some practical reasons.
The US is already a net food-importer, yet the nation will now — according to the Pew Research study — grow its population from 300 million to 438 million within the next 43 years? In what soil will the food grow? How much food will be imported, and from where, and how will the nation pay for it? With the national credit card, that is now broken?
And while we are discussing eating, let's wash it down. Water is in critical shortage in many regions of the US, so what will all of these "new" people drink? For that matter, what will the existing population drink? At the other end of the alimentary canal, the US infrastructure of sewers and pollution control systems has long been inadequate. Water and sewer system construction has traditionally lagged population growth even in the best of times. It is both expensive and politically difficult to gain approvals even for replacement sewage systems, let alone new build construction. Really, who wants a sewage treatment plant in their back yard? C'mon… raise your hand.
Let's think about energy. The US is already the world's largest oil-using nation (21 million barrels per day) and the largest oil importer (13 million barrels), so again… how much more oil will these new immigrants consume? While we are at it, the electricity system is strained to its limits in several regions. Each year, the system requires more and more juggling and wheeling of power just to remain up and running.
(For example, within the US power companies move electricity from Montana to California; from North Dakota to Illinois; from Tennessee to South Florida.) From where, and from what power plants (few are being built), will the nation obtain its electricity? As things stand, the world is at the cusp of long term oil depletion and output decline (and the high grade coal reserves have been dug and burned as well). Thus the existing US population base will have its work cut out just to maintain some semblance of an energy-based lifestyle for the current numbers.
That is, the US should expect the volumes of oil available on world markets to shrink. There will be less and less oil available to import, and at higher and higher prices. Ditto with coal. And as for "alternative" energy sources? Hey, these are great present investments. But they are lousy overall solutions to the future energy problems of 300 million people, let alone 438 million. Something is going to have to give.
Let's think of some other resource constraints in the US as well.
Have you tried to find a parking space? The major cities are full-up, surrounded by sprawling suburbs and built-out exurbs. Roads are packed and traffic congestion is chronic. Yet few new roads are being built anywhere — for lack of space, let alone the NIMBY-ism that permeates the culture. The nation is having trouble maintaining its existing road and bridge infrastructure. Yet won't "another" 138 million people need a few more paved roads, bridges, tunnels and exit ramps within the next 40 years or so? Who will build those structures, and how will the nation pay for them?
Where would these roads go in any case? You can already get to most places that you want to go, using a highway or road — in some state or repair or another. But when you arrive at your destination you typically find that much of the formerly rural landscape has been transformed into development and track housing, all of which uses energy and water in wasteful ways that will be untenable in years going forward due to scarcity and high costs (see above). While we are at it, for some strange reason most of the US population wants to live within 200 miles of a coastline. So let's add the majority of those 138 million new bodies to the existing coastal bands. Tell me when you feel crowded.
How else can people move about? Not on trains. The US rail system is essentially max'ed out with trains hauling freight shipments, hence there is no room in or near any urban area to acquire new railway rights of way. So rail and light rail — which very few Americans currently use in any case — will not grow in any big sense in future years.
Other US public infrastructure — such as the hospital and public health system, court system, public schools and higher education system — are similarly max'ed out. The US can barely serve the population base of 300 million with the existing sets of buildings and personnel. In many jurisdictions, the fact is that the public IS NOT being served in any adequate sense. And in many locales, people are being treated, served and/or allegedly "educated" in trailers, for lack of space in the "real" buildings. Many of the "real" public buildings in the US are aged and long-past replacement. (In Pittsburgh, for example, no new public high school has been constructed since 1923.)
This does not even address the profound national issues of "borders, language and culture" that will be affected by new waves of mass immigration. 438 million? That number is just too many to allow any sort of society to function on half a continent, mostly near the coastlines. But one could also focus on the "depletion" of the traditional American concepts of national boundaries, or the decline of the nation's common English language and some semblance of an "American" culture based on a shared history. No, if you focus on that kind of thing, people will think that you are talking about immigration in terms of race.
So better just to focus on the fact that an increased US population — from whatever source — will lead to massive shortages of food, water and energy. And the public infrastructure will simply break down. Vast swaths of the country will become unrecognizable slums filled with broken-down housing, bad transportation, and hungry and thirsty people living on the squalid edge of human survival.
Here is the story:
U.S. Hispanic population to triple by 2050
John, I single-handledly rescued your blog from terminal boredom.
That's ironic because you're boring me to tears. When was the last time you had an original thought? Because I haven't heard anything new from you in years.
Original or not, at least people are posting -- as opposed to the perpetual yawn-fest that had infected your little corner of the blog-o-sphere...
I mostly post here to entertain myself, but I'll stop posting again and we'll see what happens. Nothing, I'll bet, other than the obligatory cutesie you-tube posts.
I'll see you when Fantasy football comes around. And Justin too right? Or is it Jariah that has dibs? I forget and I think it depends on whether Danny comes back or not.
Ciao!
israel you said that you have contact with people outside the US and they hate bush and america and i wouldnt know because i never leave ohio and your correct other than that 3 week trip that i spent last summer in Switzerlan, England, France, back to Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and Italy and have been to europe many times before that so i would say i have been all over europe and actually have talked about the US and George Bush and oddly enough everyone that i talked to respected both and no i wasnt with all christian people. OH and this last trip there were a lot of austrialians there also and they were proud that their country was in alliance with ours. my guess is that the people that you were in contact with were not the majority
