Take me out to the ballgame

The “Toledo Law” softballers played better this week, but still came out on the short end of the stick.

Down 5-0 in the fifth inning, we put a six spot on the board to take the lead, briefly. The other team was made up of a bunch of kids from Coldwater, Crestview, and Delphos St. John’s. In other words, huge athletes.

Anyway, they came roaring back to take a 15-6 lead with two outs in the bottom of the inning. However, the umpire soon realized that they had batted out of order. Going back to where the mistake was made, the lead was slashed to 10-6, which is much more doable.

As we came up to bat, one of the guys on the team said, “Wouldn’t it be rather appropriate if we win on a procedural technicality?” We all had a good laugh and I suddenly realized, no one will ever get my jokes again. I've been told lawyers have a weird sense of humor. And appearantly they pick it up early in law school. It’s like telling jokes in a foreign language.

Back to softball… we got one runner on base, but couldn’t bring him around. Then they run-ruled us in the bottom of the inning.

Oh well. At least we only have to win three in a row to make the postseason.

And at least we can sing better than Danica Patrick. I hope.

Whoever said lawyer's have a weird sense of humor must have been crazy! (Sense the sarcasm, people) I'm just teasing all you 'lawyer type' people out there... especially those of you who actually enjoy things like The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. (I never read the book, but the movie is clearly made for the insane! There was one funny part when the ground just starts smacking them for having ideas, but the rest of it was totally over the top!)
